To replace a toilet seat, measure the existing seat, buy a matching replacement, then remove the two hinge bolts at the back of the bowl. Clean the rim, position the new hinges over the mounting holes, and tighten the hardware evenly. The seat should sit centered, open smoothly, and stay still when you shift gently.
To unclog a toilet, stop flushing and close the water supply valve if the bowl is rising. Use a flange plunger with enough water to cover the rubber cup, then make steady push-pull strokes while keeping the seal tight. When the water drains, test with a small flush. Stop and call a plumber if an object is lodged, multiple drains are affected, or plunging fails.
To fix a leaking shower head, first identify where water escapes. A leak at the shower-arm connection usually needs tightening, a new washer or O-ring, or thread seal tape. Spray from blocked nozzles may need mineral cleaning. If the head drips after the valve is fully off, the shower valve cartridge may need replacement. Shut off water before disassembly.
